Landlord Registration Fees Increased

The Scottish Government have confirmed there is to be an increase in landlord application fees from 1 April 2026

Fees are payable only when you come to renew or add properties to your registration.

From 1 April 2026, all application fees for the Landlord Register will be increased in line with the Consumer Price Index, as follows:

• Principal Fee: increasing from £82 to £85
• Property Fee: increasing from £19 to £20 (Property cost for each property rented out by the landlord)
• Late Application Fee: increasing from £164 to £170

When applying to be a Landlord in Scotland you will need the following information to complete your application or to renew your registration:

Contact details
Phone number
Email address
You must keep your contact details up to date. This information will be used to remind you to renew before your current registration expires.

Address details
Your addresses for the past 5 years
Addresses of all your rental properties
Agents or letting agents
Details of any person or business managing your property on your behalf
Other owners
Details of all owners, including their contact details and landlord registration numbers (if already registered).

All owners of a property must individually:

Register & Renew
A lead owner of a property cannot apply to be registered or renew an existing registration on behalf of other owners. If a co-owner fails to renew their registration in time, they must pay the late fee.

Any criminal convictions and court or tribunal judgements
Repairing standards enforcements orders (RSEOs), issued to you or your tenants
Repairing and tolerable standard
Gas safety certificate
Electrical installation condition report or a current electrical installation certificate
Electrical appliance test details
Fire, smoke and heat detection details
Carbon monoxide
Public water supply
Energy performance certificate
Legionella risk assessment
Rental property insurance
Common repairs
Tenancy deposit
Payment
A credit or debit card to pay for any fees
